A Legacy of Aloha
HISTORY OF HOSPITALITY
Steps from Waikīkī Beach, with Diamond Head in view, Queen Kapi‘olani Hotel honors its royal namesake and the timeless aloha spirit. Artwork and decor depict the history of Waikīkī hospitality, bringing the island story to life across its 315 guest rooms and suites, pool deck, restaurant, cafe, meeting space and lobby.
AN ICON OPENS
Since opening in 1969, Queen Kapi‘olani Hotel has been a beloved Waikīkī landmark. Designed by local architect Ernest Hideo Hara, its neoclassical façade and ʻulu-leaf details blend mid-century elegance with island charm. For decades, it has been a gathering place where milestone celebrations and local traditions thrive.
ART & LEGACY
A renovation in 2018 reimagined this classic hotel with custom murals, memorabilia, and historical photography curated in partnership with cultural institutions. Each floor and guest room tells a story of Hawaiʻi’s travel history, honoring the spirit of Waikīkī with local artistry and vintage touches.
TODAY & BEYOND
Today, the Queen Kapi‘olani Hotel continues to share Waikīkī’s cultural legacy with modern hospitality and genuine aloha. In 2024, the hotel joined PM Hotel Group—one of the nation’s leading management companies—ensuring continued excellence, innovation, and care for our guests, community, and the island we call home.
